Autumn is my favourite time of the year. How can I experience the best autumn atmosphere in Zurich?
The days are getting shorter, the fog makes everything seem mystic and the leaves get coloured and fall off the trees. Or as Albert Camus once said “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”
Some autumnal things to do in Zurich:
- Buy yourself some Heisse Marroni at one of the many sales booths.
- Stroll through one of the forests around town. For a walk with a view, take the tram no. 6 up to the Zoo, walk past the Hotel Zürichberg and follow on the pathway along the forest with a magnificent view over Zurich. Take the Seilbahn Rigiblick back down.
- Take a walk at the park of Krematorium Sihlfeld, enjoy the clear October air and the look of the colourful autumn leaves.
- Stroll along the lake towards Rote Fabrik and drink some Heisse Schoggi (hot chocolate) there. While walking, put your headphones on and listen to the music of Sigur Ros or Chilly Gonzales.
- Have a beer at the Oktoberfest at Bauschänzli.
- Rent a bike and cruise around town.
