It’s that time again: once a year, 40 of Zurichs museums invite all art lovers and night owls to join their current and permanent exhibitions. This Saturday from 7pm they will be open for much of the night, offering a mix of entertainment, insights and information until 2am.
Join any of the guided tours through the museums of your interest, explore the zoo at night, eat and drink something wherever you wish, enjoy a concert at the Sukkulentensammlung or an outdoor movie at the Wildnispark, to name just a few of the opportunities.
The Kunsthaus Zurich will be awake even longer, with a party until 4am.
Admission to all participating museums is CHF 25.-
Buy a “Kombi-Ticket” and not only get free entry to the museums but also to public transport, special shuttles, museum trams and ferries and ride on free city bikes from place to place.
For details of the full programme check the official website.
By the way: a must see definitely is “The Clock” by Christian Marclay.
You seem to be a real fashionista with a green awareness. We like that! We suggest you to shop at Wink fashion at Kreuzplatz, they have a trendy range of organic and fairtrade labels for real aesthetes.
If you want to park your boyfriend somewhere, send him to the american-style brasserie Bohemia nearby, where he can enjoy a burger and a cold brew.
Three weeks full of theater, performances and an atmosphere full of joie de vivre – that’s the Theater Spektakel. Switzerlands largest theatre festival takes place at the Landiwiese, a lawn south of the city centre at the boarder of the lake.

Every year, up to 30 companies and individual artists are invited to Zurich by the festival directors. They emphasize the formal independence and artistic ambition of the participants – which guarantees the viewers an innovative program to choose from.
If you don’t want to spend money on the ticket: Just watch the buskers and jugglers, grab a bite to eat at one of the eight restaurants on place and enjoy.
With all its nice streets, restaurants and places to relax, Kreis 5 is the perfect neighbourhood to enjoy a real ‘Summer in the City’ day. At the Viaduktbögen are located some good bars and restaurants where you can sit outside: Markthalle, Ambrosi or Restaurant Viadukt. Nearby, you’ll find the Josefswiese, a superb place to take a sunbath, read a book and if you need a refreshment, dip your feet into the fountain or have a drink at Kiosk Josefswiese.
Walk down the Viaduktstrasse and check out some of the shops. At the end, Geroldstrasse starts. There, you’ll find the Freitag tower, where you shouldn’t miss the view from the sunny rooftop platform.
Right behind the Freitag tower is located Frau Gerolds Garten, a temporary sun terrace, summer restaurant, arts and city garden. Terrace, bar, kitchen and toilet area are built out of ship containers and you’ll find shadow under a huge circus tent. The side walls are brightly-painted, flowerbeds and vegtable patches create a „green“ atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to have a chat and an ice cold beer – an urban park in the middle of Zurichs industrial district.
By the way: The weather forecast predicts great weather for the weekend, too. You shouldn’t miss the Idaplatzfest on Saturday!

Once a year, the lovely town of Winterthur is definitely THE PLACE TO BE for MUSIC LOVERS: the Musikfestwochen are on!
From 15 – 26 of August, there will be lots of astonishing concerts, until the 23 of August all of them are with free entry. We are especially looking forward to Apparat, The Black Seeds, Movits! and Sigur Ros.
The atmosphere at all three main venues Steinberggasse, Kirchplatz and Graben in the middle of the old town of Winterthur is very relaxed. Beside a wide range of concerts, you could also enjoy cabaret, films, delicious food, local beer, a special program for kids and the night-owls can party all night long at different clubs.
Winterthur is only 25km away from Zurich and the easiest way to get there is by public transport. The trains to Zurich leave every 5-10 minutes and during weekends, there are trains all night long.
