Try pubs such as Nelsons or Oliver Twists. Also Piccolo Giardino might put its tellie on for some Olympic fever – check its homepage to confirm.

But we did some research and found you these bars or restaurants:

Did you always want to enjoy the stunning view over Zurich – comined with the sizzling noise from a chimney fire? The Nietturmbar is located in a glass cubus over the Schiffbau at Kreis 5. A good place to meet, relax, dream and enjoy.

The Lounge of the Park Hyatt Hotel offers a warm and luxurious ambiance in combination with delicious drinks and foods and, of course, a chimney fire.

Another quite royal place is the Kings Cave Bar & Grill in the  heart of Zurich. Dine like a king in this vaulted castle cellar with its fireplace, candleholders and heavy golden curtains.

Not far from the Kings Cave restaurant, right at the Hirschenplatz, is the bar Platzhirsch. Enjoy a drink, exclusive glass of wine or a cappuccino in an well-designed, friendly environment and relax by the fireplace.

Piazza at Idaplatz is always a good choice as this charming bar and the whole square are full of nice Zurich people at nights, but still not too trendy. The garden behind Restaurant Reithalle is one of our favourites and they serve good local beer. The much smaller garden at Piccolo Giardino is very familiar and you might want to stay there forever. Für Dich, Mars Bar, Xenix or Volkshaus are other good options.

If you like it very down-to-earth, Bierhalle Wolf or Rheinfelder Bierhalle might be the places for you! To be honest, we have never been there, but they surely serve good beer.

By the way: people say, one of the best beers brewed in Zurich is Hirnibräu. The problem is, we don’t know where to buy it. But you could have it delivered somewhere. Other good local beers are Bier Paul and Turbinenbräu.

That’s easy: we send you to Kleine Freiheit – an urban garden and bar in one, with a very relaxed atmosphere. Finally, the lovely little Weinbergpark on the way down from the University to the central station is used.

The friendly students behind the desk serve delicious things, we especially recommend the local beer or the oriental sandwich with falafel, tomatoes and garlic sauce in pita bread.

We can’t help but being reminded of Frau Gerolds Garten‘s ship containers and flower boxes and the same good vibes, so we name Kleine Freiheit the little brother of “her”.
Stop by to play some games, read a book, to have lunch or an afterwork beer!

Other options @Kreis 1 are the Rio Bar or the Grande.

As already mentioned, the Langstrasse is a good place for night-owls. A bar myfriendfromzurich particularly likes is the Meyer’s. It´s a bit further up though, but the Toast Hawaii and the genuine crowd, makes up for the night journey.

For solid rock, strong drinks and a rockabilly feeling, go to Mata Hari Bar or Sansibar.

- Join the party people for a Cuba Libre at Bar3000.

BRUNCH-Places:
- Maybe the best food is served at Kafi Dihei.
- If you want to bring along children, go to Kafi Für Dich.
- The oriental food lovers will be happy at Maison Blunt.
- Very relaxed is the atmosphere at Piazza, Dini Mueter or KAFISCHNAPPS.

Well, all there is to say: don’t drink too much tonight so that you can still enjoy breakfast tomorrow!
