I’d like to enjoy some good artisan coffee. Can you suggest some alternative cosy coffee places?
Zurich is definitely a good place for coffee lovers and if you browse our section eat & drink, you’ll find many nice places where we like to hang out and spend our afternoons with good talks and good coffee.
Nevertheless, we’d like to point out three suggestions for you:
Benzin & Koffein: This new additions to Zurichs coffee scene combines the owners love for coffee and motorcycles and offers wine and food too.
La Stanza: One of the best coffees in town, including real “Italianità”.
Café Henrici: Situated at a beautiful square in the old town of Zurich. They put a lot of effort into picking the right mix of beans and roasting, but also adjusting their machines accordingly.
If you’re looking for Zurich brewed coffee to take home as a present, the traditional roasting facility Kaffee Stoll is your go-to.
What are the two or three best places for locally roasted small batch coffee?
We are happy to answer your question, Jaan. These are the three places with probably the best coffee in town:
Café Henrici
Situated at a beautiful square in the old town of Zurich, Café Henrici serves very delicious coffee. They put a lot of effort into picking the right mix of beans and roasting, but also adjusting their machines accordingly. They are really friendly and happy to inform you about their mix of beans, so just ask.
La Stanza
The coffee at La Stanza is one of the best in town. At this real Italian place, you have to try the Espresso, it is heavenly! Many people know that, so it’s no longer an insider tip. But it’s definitely worth a visit.
Markthalle
At this marketplace and restaurant, you’ll find nice local and fresh food as well as one of the best coffees in town. It comes from Zurichs small roasting facility Café Noir and is rather strong. After this refreshment, you might be into some shopping at the Viaduktbögen?
For other coffee places, where you can read or study unhurriedly, check out our post from April 4.
I am looking for “un po’ d’Italianità”. Where to go?
Let us list you a few places where to dive into an Italian world:
Caffè: The coffee at La Stanza is one of the best in town. The good vibes will get you immediately and make you forget time. Once you’ve finished your coffee, you’ll have a cappuccino, followed by a vino rosso, followed by…. And a few hours later, when you leave La Stanza, you are positive about coming back.
Aperitivo: The Café Milchbar is located in the heart of the city, right by a cosy inner courtyard. Order a drink and get exquisite bits along with it – just like you would in Portoferraio or Bari.
Cena: If you are looking for excellent food, but prefer a down-to-earth atmosphere and authentic Italian dishes, Cinque is the place for you. Make sure to book ahead!
Gelato / Pasticceria secca: Paolo Caredda, a confectioner from Ischia, is known internationally for his Sfogliatelle, Amaretti and Gelati. They are heavenly! And the best thing is, that you can enjoy all of these delicacies in Pastrys Caredda magnificent old-fashioned and Italian atmosphere.
