Event Tip: Stadtsommer and rundfunk.fm
(picture: Stadtsommer/facebook)
For all those not lying at the beach somewhere in the south, Stadtsommer is the place to listen to good music, mingle and enjoy a Zurich summer night. Free entrance. The concert series starts tonight with Gletscher at club Helsinki.
Another must for music lovers is rundfunk.fm. Zurichs temporary live radio event stands for good electronic music and is at a new venue: the mingling and dancing starts open air at the garden of club Supermarket and ends inside the clubs halls late at night.
Event Tips for a sunny weekend: Open air Wipkingen or Hinterhoffest
(Picture: open air Wikpingen)
Sunny, sunnier, sunniest! A great weekend is ahead of us! In order to shorten the waiting time, here our weekend tips:
The open air Wipkingen celebrates it’s thenth birthday this year – all local hipsters and familys, night owls and music admirers have to be there on Saturday and Sunday. To listen to great local bands, dip their feet into the refreshing Limmat, drink a beer and enjoy the summer air. And the best is: free entry.
Another option is the Hinterhoffest at Kreis 5 on Saturday. The shops Lili Tulipan, konrad, Tarzan, Beige and Swallow-d invite you to shop their products or stroll through the flea market in the lovely backyard between Josef- and Konradstrasse.
Event Tip: “Platzfäscht” or the Inauguration of the Sechseläutenplatz
The inauguration of the Sechseläutenplatz this week is one of the first big Zurich highlights of 2014, so get prepared for many nice attractions and festivities. There are live concerts, exhibitions, a Böög fotoshooting and a great choice on food such as specialities from Graubünden.
We especially recommend you to attend the music festival at the live stage with locals bands on Friday night.
The Sechseläuten on April 27 – a traditional Zurich event – is the last big highlight of the inauguration, don’t miss it either!
And just a short walk away is the lately installed Hafenkran at Limmatquai.
Event Tip: Lethargy – the Winter edition
(printscreen: lethargy.ch)
The Lethargy, Zurichs legendary pre Street Parade party, turns 20 this year. Of course this has to be celebrated! The organisers decided to make a birthday present to themselves and to all the lovers of electronic music and so the Winter edition of the Lethargy was born.
As in summer, the party is held at the Rote Fabrik and the who is who of club music will make the crowds dance for two days. myfriendfromzurich is especially looking forward to MMM, Polina Krach and Styro2000.
Only vinyl records are the real deal! Where in Zurich can I get them?
(printscreen: Helsinki.ch)
For all DJs, collectors and vinyl lovers, the record fair at the Helsinki club is the place to be today. Starting at 8pm, Zurich record labels present their collections. Grab a beer at the bar and start browsing. For the hungry ones, a Raclette stall will save you from starving.
If you can’t make it to Helsinki, here are some suggestions: For HipHop, R’n'B, Dancehall and more, Hum Records is your dealer, for Jazz, Electronica and World Music, go to RecRec. Or try your luck at one of Zurichs thrift shops – you might find a real pearl browsing the enormous shelves packed with records.
