You know it, dear reader: we from myfriendfromzurich love our city. On rare occasions though, we leave our home and travel East – to Winterthur, Zurichs little sister, just a twenty minutes’ train ride away.

In summer we do it for the great music at the Musikfestwochen (as mentioned before), now the reason is the Jungkunst. The exhibition is a plattform for young Swiss artists and invites art lovers for the seventh time to explore, what contemporary art in Switzerland has to offer.

The Jungkunst is more than art though: mingle at the bar and the lounge, browse the shop and enjoy the concerts.

Once a year, the lovely town of Winterthur is definitely THE PLACE TO BE for MUSIC LOVERS: the Musikfestwochen are on!

From 15 – 26 of August, there will be lots of astonishing concerts, until the 23 of August all of them are with free entry. We are especially looking forward to Apparat, The Black Seeds, Movits! and Sigur Ros.

The atmosphere at all three main venues Steinberggasse, Kirchplatz and Graben in the middle of the old town of Winterthur is very relaxed. Beside a wide range of concerts, you could also enjoy cabaret, films, delicious food, local beer, a special program for kids and the night-owls can party all night long at different clubs.

Winterthur is only 25km away from Zurich and the easiest way to get there is by public transport. The trains to Zurich leave every 5-10 minutes and during weekends, there are trains all night long.
