I am a very healthy person and don’t want to do without organic food during my holiday in Zurich. Where can I shop?

There are several Müller Reformhaus around town, they offer a wide range of quality organic food and friendly advice.

At Stauffacher and at ShopVille in the Central Railway Station you’ll find the Egli Reformhaus which makes the organic food lovers heart beat faster.

The organic shop L’ULTIMO BACIO in Wipkingen or the Markthalle at Viadukt are definitely worth a visit too.

Event Tip: CocoRosie feat. Rajasthan Roots & TEZ

(flyer/photos: Rote Fabrik, web)

It’s time for some good music again! If you like it crazy, intense & playful, the CocoRosie Concert at Rote Fabrik is the right place for you this Saturday!

The sisters Sierra and Bianca Casady create “a surreal amusement park pop” and know how to surprise their listeners with the sounds of actual childrens toys and other magic sounds.

They will be performing their freak folk together with the indian Rajasthan Roots and the beatboxer TEZ – an interesting mixture of different music styles.
See you there!

I am in Zurich for a few weeks and can’t be without yoga during this time. What do you suggest?

We can definitely recommend you a small but nice yoga school at Schaffhauserplatz: hautklar&yoga where Corina Dettling teaches hatha yoga with a lot of passion and makes you want to go back at least once a week.

Furthermore, you can book special treatments such as massages, skin-treatments, bach flower therapies or just buy high-quality organic body care products.

The warm and welcoming atmosphere in that lovely place will get you too!

Yeahhh: Spotted by locals

Under the „Yeahhh“ category, we’ d like to sporadically present an array of items that make us say „yeahhh“ – it can be people, things, places, songs – whatever we like.

We’d like to start this topic with Spotted by Locals. In 2008, Sanne and Bart van Poll, a married couple of travel addicts from Amsterdam, started their website giving insider travel tips submitted by locals. Now, four years later, they provide up-to-date tips from over 41 cities across Europe. Plus they also have iPhone, PDF & mobile
city guides.

Of course, there are some Zurich spotters too. And it’s definitely worth checking out their section: Miltiadis Sarakinos’ recommendation of Mexican restaurant Desperados sounded so convincing, we just had to try it.

myfriendfromzurich shares Sanne and Bart’s idea of traveling without a boring guide book, but with the tips of local insiders. And that’s why we say „yeahhh!“

Event Tip: Japanese summer party at Museum Rietberg

(photos: © Honolulu Museum of Art)

To celebrate the opening of the exhibition „The Beauty of the Moment – Women in Japanese Woodblock Prints“ the museum Rietberg invites to a Japanese summer party.

During the whole weekend you can explore the Japanese culture – and there’s much more to it than eating sushi and drinking sake: Japanese music and dance, free guided tours through the exhibition and a crafts market.  You can also try your skills in origami and Japanese make-up.
