What Swiss brands should I shop?

Switzerland is known for its cheese and chocolate, for Freitag bags and Victorinox knives. We are very much into these things. But there are other interesting Swiss products to shop:

An outdoor jacket or a backpack by Mammut, high quality Calida underwear, a Sigg bottle (right now they celebrate the world championship with a special footbal edition), stylish clothes or bags from Alprausch, natural beauty products from Weleda or to keep your feet comfortable during hiking tours, you might be interested in Rhoner socks. And there are things for the kids, too: A book of Globi or something from lovely little penguin Pingu.

An insider tip: we looove the Zurich shirts by Townhouse. They are not only Swiss, but also from Zurich.

TopSwitzerland lists all the top Swiss products.

Pentecost weekend ahead – lots to do!

On a long weekend like the upcoming one, Zurich is the perfect place to be! Here are our picks for your weekend plan:

Friday: Dive into African culture and enjoy the food and good live music at Afro Pfingsten in Winterthur.

Saturday: Head to Samschtig am Fluss, the new market slash place-to-be at Rimini, after that savor your night at one of Zurichs beautiful squares (Idaplatz, Xenix, Rio Bar).

Sunday: Did you dare to jump into lake Zurich yet? The water is getting warmer and warmer! If you’re looking for places to swim, read our last years post here. In the evening, head to beautiful Seebad Enge for one of their summer unplugged concerts.

Monday: If you’re in for some sightseeing, follow our walking tour. Or just grab a good book and sit in one of Zurichs many parks (BäckeranlageJosefswiese or Rietbergpark). Just be prepared, some stores might close earlier on the weekend or won’t open at all on Monday – Pentecost is a public holiday in Switzerland.

I just love the Korean kitchen! Is there a Korean restaurant in Zurich?

With the many Chinese and Thai restaurant in town, a Korean restaurant seems to be a choice fort he adventurous ones. But the delicious Dolsots (a kind of stew with rice, veggies and meat) and Hot-Stone-Meals are for every lover of Asian kitchen.

Our favorite is the Akaraka: Great food, friendly staff and a low key atmosphere.

The Bambushain and Yumi Hana also offer Korean cuisine.
