Which are going to be your 2014 highligts, Zurich? We are curious about what you got for us!

The inauguration of the Sechseläutenplatz in April is one of the first big Zurich highlights, so get prepared for many nice attractions and festivities. We can’t provide you with more information now, but definitely will ahead of the event.

Furthermore, the European Athletics Championships are coming to Zurich in 2014: from 12 until 17 August, the Letzigrund and the city will be full of sporty people, competitions and festivities. The Sechseläutenplatz for instance, is going to be the base of the House of Switzerland, representing the host country and throwing a huge summer party.

Another big thing is the opening of the Zurich Cross-City Link (Durchmesserlinie). The heart of the cross-city link is the second underground thourgh-station, Löwenstrasse. Commuters can be happy about shorter travel times and shopaholics about the better shopping opportunities. The existing shopeville is being expanded with the Gessnerallee passage. It serves as a shopping mall.

It looks like the Hafenkran is definitely coming to Zurich. For the big day of the Sechseläuten in April, it’s going to be installed at the Limmatquai.

Last but not least, one big political question will be answered in 2014: Do we get a new city counsil? Filippo Leutenegger is “keen” on Corinne Mauch’s position – let’s see what happens.

Myfriendfromzurich is easy to please: we are also excited about small things like the new COS shop which will open it’s doors in autumn.

We are looking forward to another eventful year with you guys. You are all great – and so is 2014 going to be!
